As the 127th Crufts show comes to a close, we can’t help but feel a little sad. I mean, where else can we go to see beautiful dogs we wouldn’t necessarily come into contact with and purchase our dog care essentials at an absolute steal?!
From the moment we set foot inside, we were met with proud people and their happy dogs, eager to show off in the arena.
But whilst Tease the Whippet won Best in Show, we couldn’t help but feel like we were the real winners here, we had the best day! We bought some new top of the line dog grooming equipment which will help us keep your pooches looking and smelling fantastic in the groom room (https://www.cleanine.com/product-category/pet-perfumes/female-pet-perfumes/ ) and we even bought ourselves some stylish new raincoats that look like they belong in an issue of ‘Horse and Hound’ that will keep us dry whilst walking your best friend (http://champion-outdoor.co.uk/product/windsor/ ). It’s a great place to go and have a mooch round as there are retail stands that sell lovely things for the home as well as for our four-legged friends
Another positive, we were happy to see that Crufts have made a few changes to how they judge the dogs. It used to be all about looks, but now there is more of an emphasis on the health and wellbeing of the breed too. We got chatting to a few of the contestants and they really are dedicated to the mental and physical health of their dogs and the dogs seem to really want to get out there and show themselves off! One of the ladies we spoke to has a Neapolitan Mastiff who was absolutely beautiful! If you’ve not seen one before, you’re in for a treat! All droopy eyes and slobber (http://www.vetstreet.com/dogs/neapolitan-mastiff).
All of this aside, Crufts actually showcase a variety of dog activities and sports and it’s these activities that we enjoy the most. But these types of activities don’t have to be done JUST to take part at Crufts. If we were going to take anything from our day, it is that any breed can attend an agility class. They might not win shows but together you will be having fun and bonding with your four-legged best friend and at the end of the day, that’s what owning a dog is all about isn’t it? Love, companionship and fun!
