High Corner Inn Dog Walk, Linwood, Ringwood
This dog walk is approximately 2.5 miles long, taking you into the heart of The New Forest. You may come across grazing horses and ponies. It is an ideal short dog walk which offers something for everyone to enjoy.
Parking
There is a car park at the inn, from where this walk starts.
How to get there
From Cadnam at the beginning of the M27, head north on the B3079 and at Brook join the B3078. Look for the signpost to Fritham on the left, then take a right signposted Linwood. Follow this road round to the right looking out for the turning to the High Corner Inn. This is a gravel track which continues for some distance, it can be very bumpy so drive with caution. The High Corner Inn can be found at the very end of this track. (input BH24 3QY in your sat nav)
Waypoint 1
Head for the ‘Forestry Commission inn car park’ sign and head left, this will lead you down the track with the High Corner Inn on your left.

Waypoint 2
After a short distance veer to the right fork and head between the trees. You should notice dead wood either side of the track.
Waypoint 3
Very soon, a ‘ chocolate box’ thatched cottage will come into view on the left. Over on your right beyond the clearing are the trees of Broomy Inclosure.
Waypoint 4
Continue along the track and when it sweeps to the left, bear right and follow it into the trees.
Waypoint 5
Pass the Forestry Commission sign for Woodford Bottom, after approx. 100 yards, just as the track approaches a gate, veer off taking a half left into the trees.
Waypoint 6
After several yards, veer to the right and walk along a path, with Dickens Water a very shallow New Forest brook on your left. It was quite slow going here after the previous days rain. To your right are the trees of Broomy Inclosure, lines of conifers and beech trees can be seen here. The walk is quite dark at this point given the density of the trees.
Waypoint 7
Continue beyond a gate numbered ‘94’ on the right. Dockens Water should still be visible on the left as it winds through the forest. To the north just beyond the water you should be able to see glimpses of Hasley Inclosure and Sloden Inclosure.
Waypoint 8
Look out for the Splash Bridge over to your left. At this point bear to the right at the corner of Broomy Inclosure, follow the track running beside the oak trees.
Waypoint 9
After about 100 yards, you arrive at a gate on the right, pass through this gate joining a broad woodland path, cutting through the trees of Broomy Inclosure.
Waypoint 10
Cross over a junction of tracks close to some silver birch trees and continue walking beside beech woodland and bracken.
Waypoint 11
After a short while you reach the gate at Woodford Bottom. Return to the High Corner Inn via the track. The High Corner Inn is a popular pub with families, the building dates back to the 1700s. Very dog friendly, they also provide stabling for your horse!
