Minster Lovell Dog Walk

The walk takes in the Lamb Inn at Crawley and ends at the Old Swan in Minster both of which offer beer gardens and good food and drink.

The walk starts at Minster Lovell, takes in Crawley and then back to the start point. Part of the route follows the River Windrush so there are plenty of places for the dogs to have a swim and cool off. There maybe cattle at various points on the route so please keep dogs under control.

Start

Drive up Minster Lovell High Street towards Crawley until you come to a parking area on your right. Once parked start the walk by turning right onto the High Street and walking up the road towards Crawley.

Waypoint 1

After the Manor House and national speed limit sign turn right trough a metal kissing gate and head diagonally left across a large field.

Waypoint 2

At the edge of the field head through a wooden gate signed towards Crawley and continue on this path until you reach the village and come to a tarmac road

Waypoint 3

Turn right onto the road and continue until you reach a junction in the centre of the village with the Lamb Inn on your left. As this is just about mid way it makes sense to stop for refreshments.

Waypoint 4

At the junction turn right and continue over Crawley Bridge towards Crawley Mill Industrial Estate. Just before you get to the Mill turn left onto a bridleway and continue along with a small stream on your left

Waypoint 5

At the next path junction turn right and cross over Dry Lane and continue through the meadow and into a small copse

Waypoint 6

Come out of the copse and turn left following the hedge line until you come to the disused pump house

Waypoint 7

Continue along the path into woodland with the Windrush off to your right and then cross the sluice

Waypoint 8

Head diagonally left across the meadow towards the ruins of Minster Lovell Hall. Do spend some time exploring here as they are quite a sight

Waypoint 9

Continue through the churchyard, cross the stone style through the fields until you reach the recreation ground and cricket pitch

Waypoint 10

Through the rec. and then turn right onto the road which will take you back to the High Street with the Old Swan on the corner. From here turn right back to the parking area.

Apres Walk

The Old Swan has a number of gardens and serves great food and drink, we would recommend to take it in an relax on the banks of the Windrush before heading back to the car!
