Fifield Dog Walk

A lovely long country walk taking in some wonderful woodland and a nature reserve.

Do, however, note that at time of walking and I would imagine after any wet spell some of the paths were very, very muddy.

When arriving at Fifield follow the sign that says “Village Only” and find a considerate place to park. Look for the D’Arcy Dalton Way heading North East  away from the village.

Start

When arriving at Fifield follow the sign that says “Village Only” and find a considerate place to park. Look for the D’Arcy Dalton Way heading North East away from the village.

Waypoint 1

Follow the D’Arcy Dalton Way (DADW) away from the village, continue through a wooden gate along a path (very muddy at time of walking) for about 1/3 mile until you reach a footpath that crosses the DADW. Continue along the DADW and the path starts to climb until to reach another 5 bar gate at the edge of the woodland.

Waypoint 2

Leave the DADW which bears right and continue straight on the footpath through the woods until it opens into a field. Continue along the edge of the field with the woods on your left. Just before the corner of the field you will see a path on your left taking you back into the woods.

Waypoint 3

Follow this path and you will go past a wooden bench which in summer would be a good place for a picnic. Continue until you start to see the edge of the woods and turn left onto the bridal way and then you will pick up foot path signs. From here just follow the path along the edge of the woods until it opens up onto a large field.

Note

The walks takes you around the edge of the woods but you can follow any one of a number of Permissive Paths to give you access into the woods proper and the na ture reserve. If you do so please keeps dogs on leads or under close control.

Waypoint 4

Bear right then left keeping the tree line on your right and simply follow this back to the DADW between Waypoint 1 and Waypoint 2. Turn right and follow your nose back to the start.
