Gentleshaw Common Circular Walk with My Best Friend Dog Care, Burntwood

Gentleshaw Common is an area of common land situated in Gentleshaw on the northern side of Burntwood in Staffordshire, England. The area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest as it is an area of globally rare lowland heathland.

The common plays host to a series of fun public events throughout the year, including scrub bashing and countryside walks.

Parking is available at either the T Junction for Chorley Road and Ogley Hay Road WS7 2PF or indeed you can pick up the walk from either the car park on Rugeley Road just down from the Redmore Inn WS15 4RU or at the top end of Gentleshaw Common on Common Side opposite Ye Olde Windmill Inn WS15 4NF.  Of course every great walk ends with a Pub, both of which are Dog Friendly. This is a 2 and a half mile, 1 hour circular walk with many paths off the beaten track for exploration by your best friend.

Starting from the Car Park head straight up following the path into the Common.

Waypoint 1 :

Take the path to the right looking for a Pylon in the distance.

Waypoint 2 :

At the corner of the Common near the road take the path to the left.

Waypoint 3 :

Nearing the Main Road and the North entrance to the common, take a left here and head down a wide footpath.

Waypoint 4 :

At a Junction where a path goes to your left and one to the right come off the wide footpath and and take a right turn downhill.

Waypoint 5 :

At the bottom of the hill take a right hand path and follow the track uphill.

Waypoint 6 :

As you meet the wide footpath take a right hand turn and follow it downhill.

Waypoint 7 :

Where the path divides to the left and right take the track to your left, following it downhill towards the Car Park.

Waypoint 8 :

Near the Car Park take another left following the path to Waypoint 1 and back to the Start of the Walk.

This is a very flexible route. There are many inter-crossing paths suitable for exploration and there are also well signposted routes around the Common. We hope you enjoy the beautiful Gentleshaw Common Circular Dog Walk which is stunning at any time of the Year.
