Hainault Forest Country Park is one of the last remaining sections of the Forest of Essex, an ancient forest with over 300 acres and  a former hunting ground. It is now one of the best examples of a medieval woodland still in existence.

The park contains a petting zoo, fishing lake,  guided walks, bridleways and a nature trail. The country park also offers a sculpture trail and wide variety of forest walks.

Experience the ultimate day out in this idyllic location. Whilst here you’ll feel a million miles away from the city yet Canary Wharf just a stones throw away. This particular dog walk provides more of a relaxing stroll and is ideal if you want to stay out of the forest. It can be done in 45 minutes at a brisker pace or an hour taking your time and exploring.

Directions:

1. Start at the inner car park and head straight out to point 1
2. Turn left at way point 1 keeping the forest on your right.
3. At waypoint 2 turn left into the meadows
4. Waypoint 3 turn right and walk to waypoint 4.
5. Turn right at waypoint 4 an walk back up to waypoint 5.
6. Turn left at waypoint 5 keeping the forest on your right and walk down to waypoint
7. Walk straight back to waypoint 7 keeping the trees on the right and head back to car park.

This walk is suited to avoiding entering the woods and may work better for dogs on leads.
