Haslam Park Dog Walk, Preston

The Haslam Park Dog Walk is one of my favourite dog walks in Preston.

Haslam Park is one of the finest Edwardian Parks in Preston and sits alongside the Lancaster Canal. As well as dog walking  Haslam Park offers a number of different games areas including a Multi Use Games Area, Tennis Courts and a Bowling Green, There is also children’s play area and picnic facilities.

 

Free parking for the Haslam Park Dog Walk is available on-site and accessible via Bristow Avenue, off Blackpool Road.

Start off from the cark park located on Bristow Avenue. Follow the path past the tennis courts and the sensory garden and up towards Savick Brook, this is a great area for your dogs to play in the water.

Continue from Savick Brook onto Haslam Park Nature Reserve and follow the path up to Lancaster Canal and cut from the path on to the field just before reaching the canal.

Walk across the fields down the trampled paths which will lead you on to Cottam Lane. Turn left on to Cottam Lane and follow the path until you reach the steps, go up the steps back on the Haslam Park.

Continue straight down the main path until you reach the main gates, from the main gates turn left which will lead you back to the car park.

There are many other paths that can be taken on Haslam Park and there is plenty of open fields for your dog to have a good run around. Another route that could be taken is walking along Lancaster Canal which has various paths leading back on to the park.

There is always lots of other dogs on the park for your dog to meet and the vast majority of the park is dog friendly and your dog can walk off lead. The areas of the park that are not dog friendly are the children park, tennis courts and the pond which are clearly signed.
