Throughout March My Best Friend New Forest has been providing care for puppies. The age range has been from a tender 12 weeks old to approaching a year and it’s been great fun! Whilst puppies can be a handful I love being part of their development and watching them grow. My service is ideal for young dogs who need a safe loving environment in which to socialise.
First up is Oskar, a 12 week old Munsterlander
Oskar has been spending time in day care, but was also home boarding for a long weekend. He is a very large puppy and is continuing to grow physically. The most important step at this stage is socialisation, learning about other dogs and people; generally exploring the wider world. This is being managed and closely monitored through a combination of day care, puppy visits and dog walking with carefully selected dogs; ones that will be forgiving of a young puppy and more tolerant, allowing room for error than they would allow from another adult dog
Next up is Mia, a full of character Cockapoo.
She is approaching 11 months old. Very tiny in stature, physically fully grown and emotionally mature and responsive to training. Mia has joined my regular group dog walks. Despite her size, she keeps up with the larger breeds, running rings round them to watch her running it appears as though she has been fitted with springs! As she lives very close by, I regularly collect her in the afternoon to spend time with my day care dogs to join in the fun and games and to break the day up until her owners return from work.
Last but not least, is the lovely Bryn.
Bryn returned for home boarding this month. He has matured so much in the two months that I’ve not seen him. He is fast approaching his first Birthday. He can now be walked off lead as his recall is now excellent. Previously his recall was hit and miss, but what a difference two months can make at this stage. He mixes well with my other dogs, interacting well and playing nicely with the other dogs. Still countless energy, but such fun.
