Another New Franchisee. Dog Care in the South Cotswolds

We spent a few years on a small-holding farm and had many different animals, from chickens and ducks to a beautiful Jersey cow, goats and a donkey called Nancy Crackers. When I left school I went to work in London as a Nanny and looked after two young children and the family dog, Henry.

I joined the RAF as a medic and then l trained as a Registered Nurse and transferred to the Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service and worked near Portsmouth within an NHS hospital. During my time there we had Stanley, our black Labrador. Stanley loved his walks by the sea, swimming and chasing any ball he could find. Once I had to rescue him from a buoy which he had managed to get stuck on so I waded out to the rescue!

During my time in the RAF I was lucky enough to spend a few years in Cyprus where I volunteered to be a foster carer for the dog re-homing centre which was over whelmed with the sheer number of abandoned dogs. It was from this centre that I rescued two tiny abandoned Pointer puppies, Scooby and Dillon, who became our beloved family pets and gave us years of love and friendship. To pay for their flight back to the UK I sold my car and gave the rest of the money to the kennels as a thank you and to make sure they could continue their great work!

After 25 very rewarding years I left the RAF and joined the Ambulance service as a Clinical Nurse Adviser, helping patients and offering advice to ambulance crews on call and later joined the infection control team within a local NHS hospital.

I had never put Scooby and Dillon into kennels and really appreciated a caring home environment whenever I had to leave them so know first-hand what a valuable resource My Best Friend offers.

One of my good friends recommended My Best Friend as Jon and Clara had looked after her dog, Molly, on a regular basis from when they started the business in 2015. She trusted them and only had good things to say about the service they provided. I have always wanted to start my own business and have always loved dogs so My Best Friend was an obvious choice. It also gave me confidence that they are a Member of the British Franchise Association.

Upon meeting Jon and Clara, my instinct told me that this was right for me! They offer a genuine dog-centred, professional and supportive service and I am excited to be joining the My Best Friend team and am looking forward to be providing dog care in the South Cotswolds.
