Dog Friendly Home Baking with My Best Friend Ringwood
As summer has turned to Autumn, it’s time to get baking for my regular day care dogs. What better way to spend an hour after our early morning wet walk than to make some delicious cheddar and bacon dog treats for Otis and Paddy to enjoy. They are so good, even humans will be tempted to eat them.

Whilst healthy dog treats do exist from some brands, it’s so easy to make your own at home, confident with the ingredients used.
Ingredients
200g rolled oats
70g finely grated cheddar
4 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 eggs
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
2. Add oats, cheese and bacon to the bowl of a food processor and blend until ingredients reach a crumb consistency.
3. Add 2 eggs and process until the mixture resembles a sticky dough.
4. Sprinkle flour onto a cutting board and roll out dough to approx. ¼ inch thick, cut out dough to desired shape.
5. Transfer dog treats to a lined baking sheet and cook for 20 minutes.
6. Allow to cool then store in an airtight container.
Otis and Paddy were so appreciative of my efforts and would have eaten the whole batch given the chance. Both have gone home with a supply for them to enjoy over the weekend at home.
