My Best Friend Dog Care in Chester are delighted to introduce our first Carer, Karen Murphy.
Karen lives in Saltney with her husband Roy. They both have a wealth of experience of looking after and owning dogs and can’t wait to welcome your dog into her home.
Our Home from home dog boarding service in Chester is so much kinder for your dog than traditional dog kennels. They spend their time in loving family home for the duration of their stay and have all the creature comforts that they are used to.
When Karen was born her parents bought a black Labrador called ‘lassie’, she lived until aged 14. From then on Karen has loved dogs. From the ages of 19-28, she was a Forces wife, she didn’t have their own dog but minded other RAF & Army personnel dogs (along with the odd pair of love bird parrots). Quite often for three years whilst people where sent overseas on detachment!
Once her husband left the RAF, they had the opportunity to have pets of their own.
Her daughter wanted a kitten, whilst waiting for the kitten they would walk a beautiful Golden Retriever, hard of hearing, partially sighted, five years old that an elderly couple had owned but could not manage. The family took ‘Major’ home for a week, then two weeks, then fostered for a month. By this time the kitten joined the lively family. The dog stayed and they had 10 wonderful years of company, laughter and chasing him.
Major really was a member of the family!
Since then Karen has taken in a few other dogs, just minding them for other people for when they went on breaks and holidays and loves walking her friends’ dogs.Karen is now doing a Level 3 First Aid and CPR for dogs’ course, she has medical knowledge from nursing (now retired).
Like all of our Carers Karen holds a home boarding licence and is fully insured. Her home has a large enclosed garden, high fencing and she lives within 150 yards of Saltney Park.
