Hi I’m James Falder and I own My Best Friend Dog Care Blackpool and Preston. My Best Friend provide professional dog care services including dog walking, home boarding as well as pet sitting in Kirkham and beyond.
I have recently had the pleasure of pet sitting for two Dachshunds in Kirkham named Hattie and Hank.
I visit these two every day whilst their Mum and Dad are hard at work. Generally times are between 11 and 2 but I can be flexible to meet the needs of my clients.
So what is the pet sitting service that I offer?
When I arrive Hattie and Hank are super excited to see me as they have been at home all morning and just love human company. First things first I let them out for a toilet break in the garden and have a play with their favourite toys. Depending on the weather we may go for a short walk or head back inside for more play time. Visits are 30 minutes and before I leave I ensure that they have clean fresh water and always leave them a treat!
A bit about the breed…
The Standard Dachshund was originally bred to find, chase and flush our Badgers and other burrow dwelling mammals.
They come in two sizes – Standard and Minature
Their coats can have a wire or smooth and come in a variety of colours
Whilst loyal to their owners they can be vary of unfamiliar people and other dogs.
Life Span: 12– 16 years
Weight: 7 – 15 kgs (standard)
Temperament: Stubborn, Clever, Lively, Devoted
Although relatively long loved it is important to note that they do have a number of possible health issues due to their long backs and short legs.

Although Dachshund literally translate to “Badger Dog” they are also know as Sausage Dogs (in the UK) and Weiner Dogs (in the US)
