Puppy Love in Ringwood
I was lucky enough to have two new puppies join the My Best Friend New Forest Gang In August.
Many dog owners and dog care providers agree that either Spring or Summer are the best times for adding a puppy to your family.
The warmer months are a great time for house training your puppy, the longer days are ideal for walks and playtime.
As the summer warmed up, so did the number of enquiries for puppy care. I am delighted to introduce you to my two new ‘regulars’.
Paddy from Ashley Heath near Ringwood a 5 months old Cavapoochon
Cavapoochons are sociable and enjoy people and other dogs no matter how small or large. Paddy is certainly no exception. At the start of the summer I visited his home for puppy visits. As his needs have now changed, Paddy comes to me for day care and thoroughly enjoys his days, in particular out walking in the forest with the ‘big dogs’. Click here for some of our favourites.
Otto from Ringwood, a 12 week old Cocker Spaniel
True to his breed, Otto has a very sweet temperament. He is affectionate and cuddly and loves to participate in fun and games in the garden as he is currently too young to join in with regular dog walks. He is playful, alert and very wriggly. Although currently tiny, the average height of an adult Cocker Spaniel is just over a foot high, life span 12 to 15 years and average weight 24 to 28 pounds. Otto has a lot of growing to do!
Caring for Puppies can be quite a challenge, that’s where My Best Friend Dog Care come in. We provide a variety of puppy care services including drop in visits to break up puppy’s day, short walks and day care. It’s very important not to over walk a young dog as this can cause long term joint damage. At my Best Friend Dog Care we recommend a 5 minute walk for each month of age. So, a 6 month old puppy can have a 30 minute walk. This does vary by breed but it’s a good guide to ensure the healthy development of your new best friend.
Once you puppy is of an age they can join us for our regular group walks. This is a great way to both exercise and socialise your dog! My Best Friend Dog Care offer 3 time slots each day for your convenience, these are between 9 and 11, 11 and 2 and then 2 to 4. We will come and collect your pup in our air-conditioned van which is fitted with secure cages for his comfort and safety. We’ll then take him on a fun filled fifty minute walk with a small group of other dogs. One of my favourites is at High Conrner Inn near Linwood.
