Reiki Treatment for Dogs
Reiki means Universal life energy and is a ‘Procedure which involves re-balancing the energy field that exists around each of us. This energy field is intimately associated with health.’ Brennan (1998).
Animals appear to be very accepting of this natural, calm therapy which promotes the body’s natural process of self- healing. It can reduce stress, re-balance and improve their well- being.
So why should you consider Reiki Treatment for Dogs?
Animal Reiki may benefit dogs with physical, mental or emotional issues and consequently this holistic complementary therapy may also be of help for animals with behavioural problems which have an emotional basis.
Here are some practical reasons to offer Reiki to your best friend:
1) It is non-invasive and comforting.
2) Only the Reiki practitioner and their hands are needed.
3) It can be given anywhere. No equipment is needed and the dog can be in their natural surroundings.
4) There is no need to move or to disrupt the animal.
5) The animal is in control at all times. Reiki cannot be forced onto an animal. They chose to accept it.

Reiki is a complementary therapy but it is not used to diagnose conditions. Reiki is not a replacement for orthodox veterinary medicine or treatments but supports traditional veterinary care and works well alone or with other complementary therapies.
I am Reiki Level 1 and Level 2 qualified. I have been providing Reiki for many years and have been very impressed by the way Reiki can help both people and animals. I have been attuned to Level 2 Tera Mai Reiki and Tera Mai Seichem 1 and can provide my lineage and certificates upon request. Reiki can be provided as a one off treatment or as a course of treatments as required. The length of a Reiki treatment can vary depending on the individual but is usually between 30 minutes to an hour.
