Back Open For Your Best Friend…

There’s nothing like having dogs around to establish a regular routine which is so important to us all in these difficult times.

As social distancing and hygiene are in the forefronts of our minds it was crucial that extra precautions were undertaken which will be maintained for the foreseeable future to make sure that safeguards are in place which meet the guidance and advice provided.

Whilst the safety of dogs when in my care is always paramount, an extra dimension of taking action to help control the spread of the virus has been added.

• Risk assessments have been completed prior to welcoming any dog back into my care.
• Processes to observe social distancing have been agreed with the dog owners around dropping off and collecting dogs.
• All my own leads and equipment have been used.
• Disposable gloves are worn if entering a property if a dog is to be picked up or dropped off at their home.
• New quieter walks have been found within walking distance from my home.
• Dogs are now walked on a 1-1 basis, this allows time to securely place the dog back on the lead should we meet anyone else out walking with their dog.
• If used, the van is thoroughly disinfected after every use.

With currently having more time due to a reduced demand for home boarding and dog walking as many owners are still working from home, I spent some time last week completing the Animal Courses Direct Canine First Aid Webinar. Time well spent refreshing my knowledge in this subject.

A great first week back, filled with lots of walks in the beautiful sunshine, providing day care and gradually getting back to a sense of normality for Paddy, Otis and me!
